Regarding the achievements of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry during 2025, His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, pointed out the launch of a group of vital initiatives aimed at enhancing economic diversification, consolidating partnership between the public and private sectors, supporting the small and medium enterprise sector, advancing digital transformation and smart technologies in industries, working to integrate sustainable development practices in various sectors, enhancing intellectual property protection, raising performance efficiency, and improving the quality of institutional work and services provided. This comes within the framework of its efforts to support the sustainable development goals of the State of Qatar, and achieve balanced and comprehensive economic growth, including It is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, and integrates with the Third National Development Strategy. The volume of non-hydrocarbon industrial exports until the third quarter of 2025 amounted to about 29.8 billion riyals, and the readiness of 30 factories was assessed within the smart industry readiness index. In the same context, His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Industry issued a decision to adopt the Qatari technical regulation for the expiration periods of food products with the aim of ensuring the safety and quality of food products traded in the local market, by adopting expiration periods based on scientific foundations and modern international standards. Regarding attracting foreign investments, His Excellency pointed out the continuing efforts aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of the Qatari market for foreign investments in cooperation with various relevant authorities and working to adopt the best global practices in attracting investments, as 2,911 foreign companies were established in the first half of 2025 compared to the establishment of 1,777 foreign companies by the end of 2024, an increase of 163%, which confirms that the measures taken to attract foreign investments are on the right path. His Excellency pointed to the development of the activity of the trade affairs sector, as the year 2025 witnessed an increase in the number of main and subsidiary commercial registrations by 81.5 percent compared to the same period in 2024. The percentage of active main and subsidiary records also increased by 18.1 percent, and the total number of active commercial licenses increased by 6.79 percent, and the time frame for establishing a company was reduced to two days. The Ministry also launched the My Companies service, affiliated with the single window on the mobile application, launched the voluntary review program for merger and acquisition projects, and merged land, sea and air freight activities into one commercial register, in addition to launching the service for obtaining a temporary commercial license for service providers in the Sealine region, launching the updated version of the sector guide on industrial activities in the State of Qatar, and issuing a comprehensive guide to trade name procedures. With regard to the consumer affairs sector, His Excellency referred to the Ministry’s efforts to ensure the protection of consumer rights and to intensify its inspection campaigns, to ensure that all sales outlets and establishments comply with consumer protection laws, noting that 73,747 inspections were carried out at the level of all administrative units of the Ministry in 2025, and the voluntary review program for merger and acquisition projects was launched, which is a strategic service aimed at enhancing transparency and supporting companies’ commitment to the provisions of Article (10) of Law No. (19) of 2006 regarding consumer protection. Competition and preventing monopolistic practices. The Ministry also facilitated the procedures for companies to issue specific licenses, as the average number of specific licenses issued increased by approximately 31 percent during the year 2025 compared to 2024.
