The General Union, which enjoys financial and administrative independence, was able to make a qualitative shift in the Union’s journey through implementing projects, initiatives and purposeful activities that contribute to community service and enhancing its relief efforts to provide support and support to those in need locally and abroad until it became a role model as a national institution that works and achieves to serve the public interest. .
The General Union also provided great and pioneering humanitarian services, and its development projects contributed to providing job opportunities to alleviate poverty and unemployment. These humanitarian works also had a good impact on the importance of respecting the citizen and preserving his dignity.
These achievements came as a result of participatory work and collective effort between the Ministry of Social Development, the Union, and the local community, in a way that befits the level of services provided to the charitable, humanitarian, and volunteer sectors.
The President of the General Union, Dr. Atef Odaibat, said that the General Union is working in line with the royal directives to consolidate the participatory approach with various institutions, organizations and entities to enhance development by utilizing its capabilities and continuing its efforts to improve the services it provides to the target groups and segments to continue the process of excellence, giving and achievement.
Adibat pointed out that the General Union, with the participatory efforts of its administrative body, is keen to strengthen the role of associations to bring about development, involve them in the activities and events organized by the unions, and direct them to present studies and projects to enhance their work mechanisms in a way that reflects positively on the local community, noting that the Al Amal Centers for Special Education have been handed over to be managed by charitable associations as well. Many projects have been implemented in various development sectors, such as credit funds, productive projects, women and youth empowerment, social protection, charitable sharks, wheelchairs, Ramadan campaigns, supportive medical tools, providing aid to refugees, reproductive health, and parental care.
He stated that the Union provided support to five associations after they submitted project proposals whose goals are based on empowering women and enhancing their capabilities in a way that benefits them and their families. The economic empowerment project for vulnerable groups was also implemented at the Al Amal Center for Special Education in Mafraq, with the aim of economically empowering women and youth from both sides. Both genders and people with disabilities.
He added that the charitable lottery witnessed a development represented by the issuance of a new system that enables the General Union to issue other types of lotteries, especially electronic scratch-offs, with the aim of increasing and improving the revenues of the Union in light of the increases in the number of registered charitable societies, reducing poverty and unemployment, and improving the quality of life for individuals and communities.
He pointed out that the Union, believing in the importance of the role of the media, launched its official website to highlight the message and objectives of the Union and the unions in the governorates and the projects that it has implemented and is implementing, and to facilitate communication mechanisms and keep the community and associations informed of announcements and news up to date.
He stated that the Union, in line with the royal directives, provided an amount of 20,000 dinars to support family and siblings in the Gaza Strip, indicating that the Union, with the efforts of its administrative body, will continue its path to achieve excellence and achievement, provide great and pioneering services, and continue its mission aimed at providing aid and assistance to the poor and needy segments and groups throughout the country’s expanses. .
Social responsibility programs:
Social responsibility programs have placed the General Union on the map of social work in the Kingdom and created a position for it as a result of the quality of aid, programs and productive projects that are no less important than providing aid to the needy and the poor, in addition to the Union’s participation in national plans for the various sectors and supporting initiatives that have contributed to achieving development.
The Union also joined to provide support and assistance to the campaign implemented by the Jordanian Hashemite Charitable Organization in many crises, which had a great impact in supporting and assisting families and brothers in the Gaza Strip and Palestine and alleviating their suffering and their need for basic, food and medical supplies.
The field of volunteer work and support of unions, associations and projects:
The Union was able to make its mark through its keenness to support federations of associations in the governorates and association projects in order to carry out their mission and contribute to rehabilitation, training and employment, and achieve sustainable development, which reflects positively on the local community, as support was distributed to the federations on a fair basis and for specific projects that have direct contact. For the needs of the local community and the daily lives of citizens.
The Union also provided support to five charitable organizations at a rate of five thousand for each organization, which is the Nashmiyat Jordan Charitable Association, which was headed by former MP Dr. Rudeina Al-Ati to implement the economic empowerment project for women “For you, we work in Zarqa Governorate,” and the Basmat Al-Khair Women’s Charitable Association, which was headed by Buthaina Al-Zoubi to implement The “Together We Can” project for self-employment of women in the city of Salt, the Developmental Families Association, headed by Maysar Al-Saadi, to implement the project for training and qualifying women in hotel professions, the “Izdihar Project,” the Jordanian Women’s Charitable Training and Qualification Association, headed by Munifa Al-Jazi, to implement the economic empowerment project for women in the southern desert, and the Nashmiya Association for Women’s Development. and Children’s Charity to implement the economic empowerment project for women in Jerash Governorate.
The General Union also implemented the economic empowerment project for vulnerable groups in Mafraq in cooperation with the French Expertise Organization and with the support of the European Union and managed by the Jordanian Society for Trauma Care, which contributed to benefiting a number of young individuals, girls and less fortunate families by qualifying them with a number of comprehensive experiences and skills for some professions to enable them to establish their projects. Small projects that empower them economically and supply the labor market with these competencies. In addition, the project contributed to comprehensive maintenance of the Al Amal Center for Special Education in Mafraq Governorate.
A new national project has also been launched that will have tangible effects on alleviating poverty in our Jordanian society, which is the National Fund for Charitable Work. This fund will receive an amount of one million dinars annually as a minimum, subject to increase, to be distributed to the least fortunate and most needy families. Its idea will be developed in cooperation with the National Aid Fund until Matters will be at the highest level of transparency and integrity, and we will ensure that the money from this fund goes directly to needy groups.
The General Union also allocated an amount of 150 thousand dinars, 12 thousand and 500 dinars for each of the governorate federations, to help them bear part of their obligations, and to disburse a lump sum financial reward to all employees of the union, including those working in the charitable lottery, to encourage them to make the greatest possible effort to enable the union to make the transition. Maintenance of the Union Building:
The Union worked to rehabilitate the General Union Building internally and externally to achieve a qualitative leap so that these buildings are modern and advanced, in a typical international style, and within heritage architectural and engineering specifications that are compatible with the Al-Weibdeh area in which it is located, which is dominated by the old heritage character. The total estimated cost of these works amounted to 150 thousand dinars, including The architectural, civil, electrical and mechanical works and rehabilitation of the building were distributed between 70 thousand dinars for maintenance inside the building previously and current maintenance by Public Works at a cost of 40 thousand dinars and the rest for external maintenance of the walls. These works were based on achieving the mission and objectives of the General Union of Charitable, Humanitarian and Voluntary Affairs through the design of the building that reflects The cultural image of the area is beautiful and befits this national institution. It is environmentally friendly and equipped with an electric elevator to transport people with disabilities and special needs between buildings. It takes into account their conditions and circumstances as a matter of social responsibility towards these groups, especially since the General Union Building has not been carried out since its establishment.
Maintenance of Al Amal Special Education Centers:
The Union was keen to develop plans and programs aimed at developing services in Al Amal Centers to integrate the groups benefiting from them into educational institutions and society to contribute to the development of their abilities and skills and because of its positive repercussions on them in their lives.
Maintenance work was carried out for a number of hope centers run by charitable organizations in Ajloun (Sakhrah District), Aqaba and Mafraq.
The General Union also signed many agreements with institutions and organizations, including the Latter-day Saint Society (LDSC), to contribute to conducting development, maintenance, and rehabilitation work for the Hope Centers, the latest of which is in Sakhrah.
Launching electronic lottery and scratching:
The General Union enjoys financial and administrative independence without any allocations in the Jordanian state budget of any kind, as the lottery has contributed to enabling the Union to implement many pioneering national projects, including the King Hussein Cancer Center, the Islamic Burial House, the Al Amal Centers for Special Education spread across all governorates of the Kingdom, and the Union’s investment projects. And the governorate federations, in addition to the projects presented by the federation through the revenues of the charitable lottery and its support with large sums estimated at millions to the governorate federations and associations to enable them to manage their noble mission in charitable work.
The General Union of Charitable Societies also celebrated the golden jubilee of the Jordanian Charity Lottery and the fiftieth anniversary of its issuance, as the celebration came on the occasion of the birthday of the leader, King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, may God protect and preserve him.
