Amman – Quds Network: Jordanian political, national, cultural and tribal figures called for the removal of all foreign forces from Jordanian territory, and the cancellation or restriction of the security and military agreement signed with the United States, warning that the continued presence of these forces exposes Jordan to security and political risks and increases the possibility of its involvement in regional conflicts. The signatories stressed, in a statement, that the presence of foreign forces on Jordanian territory “does not serve national interests,” calling on the government to withdraw the security and military agreement with the United States and present it to the National Assembly, allowing it to be discussed and subjected to legislative oversight, in addition to informing public opinion of commitments that may affect Jordan’s sovereignty and national security. The statement stressed the need to neutralize strategic facilities in Jordan, especially airports, ports, military bases and vital installations, and not to use them in any military, security or logistical operations related to the ongoing war in the region, in order to preserve Jordan’s security and avoid the consequences of any regional confrontation. The signatories considered that Jordan “is not a party to this war,” and its people should not bear its consequences or pay the price for policies that do not serve its interests, in light of the economic and living crises facing citizens, and the effects the war has on the economy, internal stability, and the Kingdom’s regional relations. At the same time, the statement expressed pride in the Jordanian Armed Forces, calling for its military doctrine to remain directed at defending Jordan and its sanctities in the face of the Israeli occupation, recalling the role of the Jordanian army in the battles of Al-Karama, Latrun, Bab Al-Wad, and the defense of Jerusalem. The signatories called on the Jordanian authorities to take practical steps to neutralize the Kingdom from the ongoing conflicts, preserve its sovereignty and independent decision-making, and follow a policy of true neutrality based on not engaging in any military or logistical action that serves the parties to the conflict. The statement was signed by more than a hundred Jordanian figures, including politicians, parliamentarians, former ministers, academics, writers, lawyers, trade unionists, and tribal and cultural figures, including former minister and MP Amjad Hazza al-Majali, Sheikh Salem al-Falahat, Dr. Muwaffaq Mahadin, Dr. Sufyan al-Tall, and Ali al-Habashna, in addition to a number of heads of parties, forums, and professional and legal associations. Text of the statement // A call for the evacuation of foreign forces from Jordan and the preservation of national sovereignty. Based on national responsibility, and aware of the magnitude of the risks the region is witnessing as a result of the accelerating military escalation, we, the undersigned national, political, cultural, intellectual and tribal figures, demand the removal of all foreign forces from Jordanian territory, considering their presence exposes Jordan to security, political and economic risks in which it has no interest, and increases the possibility of our country’s involvement in a regional conflict to which it is not a party. We also demand the Jordanian government. By withdrawing the security and military agreement concluded with the United States of America and presenting it duly to the National Assembly, out of respect for the right of the Jordanians, their legislative councils, and civil society institutions, to cancel or restrict this agreement, and to inform Jordanian public opinion of the obligations that may affect the state’s sovereignty and national security. We affirm the necessity of neutralizing all Jordanian strategic facilities, especially airports, ports, military bases, and other vital facilities, and not using them in any military, security, or logistical actions or operations related to the ongoing aggressive war against the peoples of the region. In a way that preserves Jordan’s security and spares it the consequences of any confrontation. Jordan is not a party to this war, and its people should not bear its consequences or pay the price for policies that do not serve its highest interests, at a time when citizens face very difficult economic and living challenges, while this war leaves negative effects on the national economy, internal stability, and Jordan’s political relations with many countries in the region. While we affirm our pride in our chosen Arab army, we demand that its national doctrine remain directed towards defending the homeland. And its sanctities in the face of the Zionist enemy branded with genocide, displacement, and expansion, and in fulfillment of its honorable history in the battles of Karama, Bab al-Wad and Latrun, and on the walls of Jerusalem and other stations where the most wonderful pages of heroism were written in defense of Palestine and Jordan. Accordingly, we call on the Jordanian authorities to take practical and immediate steps to ensure that our homeland is neutralized from this war, to preserve its sovereignty, to protect its security and stability, to protect its independent decision-making, and to spare us The dangers of bias under the American mantle, and this requires adopting a policy of true neutrality, based on not engaging in any military or logistical action that serves any party to the conflict. Long live free, sovereign, independent Jordan, and shame and disgrace to all the colonial powers in our region.
