QNB Group, the leading financial institution in the Middle East and Africa, today issued its strategic report, which reviews the group’s performance during the second quarter of 2026 and highlights its continued success in implementing its initiatives in the areas of innovation, sustainability, and developing institutional capabilities across its international network. During the second quarter of this year, the group made significant progress in implementing a set of initiatives consistent with its long-term strategic priorities, which focus on enhancing economic flexibility, supporting promising economic sectors, and enabling sustainable growth in key markets. These developments reflect the disciplined approach followed by the group to achieve added value in the long term, which is based on the diversity of operations, the strength of governance frameworks, and continued investment in the areas of innovation and human capacity development. In North Africa, QNB Egypt co-financed a historic $500 million project for Green Sky Capital’s sustainable aviation fuel facility in the Suez Canal Economic Zone in Egypt, which is the largest sustainable aviation fuel production facility in the Middle East and Africa. The project is expected to produce up to 200,000 tons of biofuel annually, which will contribute to reducing emissions by up to 500,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent annually, confirming the commitment of our corporate banking sector to financing green infrastructure projects. The project also supports the development of future energy solutions, while at the same time strengthening the region’s position within emerging value chains for sustainable aviation fuels. QNB Egypt also signed a medium-term financing agreement worth 5.5 billion Egyptian pounds with Marakez Company, to support the continued expansion of the “Fifth Settlement” mixed-use project in the East Cairo area. The project contributes to enhancing general economic activity by providing an integrated infrastructure that includes residential and commercial units and modern life facilities. As part of its ongoing efforts to support economic development and advance the growth of the private sector, QNB Egypt signed a credit facility agreement worth 3 billion Egyptian pounds with Global Corp Financial Services Group, to support financial leasing and real estate financing activities. This agreement aims to expand access to flexible financing solutions in various sectors, supporting investment, business growth and enhancing financial inclusion. QNB Egypt also succeeded in arranging a joint loan worth 11.98 billion Egyptian pounds for Qased Khair Company for General Supplies and Contracting to finance a project to develop new sea docks in East Port Said Port. This project is expected to contribute to strengthening Egypt’s logistical and maritime infrastructure, improving trade connectivity, and supporting long-term economic growth. The group also continued to support transformation initiatives in the energy sector through its international network. In Turkey, QNB provided long-term financing worth $38 million to support two prominent renewable energy projects. This strategic financing included the allocation of an amount of US$23 million to establish an advanced solar energy station with a production capacity of 36 megawatts dedicated to self-consumption, in addition to an organized distribution of the remaining amount of US$15 million, within the framework of a partnership launched in 2025, to contribute to the partial financing of an irrigation investment project to produce energy from wind with a production capacity of 140 megawatts. These initiatives reflect the active leadership role of QNB Group in financing sustainable infrastructure projects capable of confronting climate challenges worldwide. These initiatives help support the vital role that QNB Group plays on a large scale to finance projects that enhance economic resilience, support private sector development, and contribute to achieving long-term growth in markets. During the second quarter, QNB Switzerland hosted a delegation from the Qatar Leadership Center in Geneva. QNB was also honored by the French Chamber of Commerce in appreciation of its investments in France and its role in enhancing economic cooperation between the State of Qatar and the French Republic. The group also participated in major international forums focused on enhancing economic cooperation and investment flows between the Arab world and Europe. This included the “Gulf Vision 2026” Forum in Paris, a leading platform for dialogue between France and the Gulf region, in addition to the Arab-German Business Forum in Berlin, which was held under the slogan “Building Bridges between Germany and the Arab World.” Through these participations, QNB contributed to discussions on trade, investment and opportunities to enhance cross-border cooperation, which confirms its commitment to strengthening trade ties between regional and international markets.
